Holiday Hangover

Its about time for an update….

The holidays have left me totally exhausted! However, a lot of it has to do with my real big-girl job (which I have yet to write about) and snot congested, bronchitis hacking, disgusting sickness I have had for MONTHS now. I have been to the doctor three times and on five antibiotics and two packs of Mucinex DM in the past two months. I was just given my fourth and fifth antibiotic Monday. Thankfully, I finally feel like I am getting better.

This transitions nicely into talking a little bit about my new job… Preschool/Kindergarten teacher at a private school/daycare in my home town! It is a lot of fun but challenging, a bit stressful, and I am completely exhausted and ready to go to bed by the end of the day; 5:30. But the kids make it all worth it. There are some crazy ones, rowdy ones, sweet ones, shy ones, affectionate ones, messy ones… but in my month of being there I have come to realize and accept that they are all just kids. Precious children. Children that God created with great creativity and design. This truth makes me look at all of them, even the stubborn ones differently. I am so blessed to have been hired for this job. It is a lot of work, but now have a paycheck and more than $4 in my checking account.

Christmas- Christmas was a great time spent with family. The big gift my brothers and I got was a pool table. I have been beating everyone… I surprised myself! Christmas meant so much more to me this year than any other year. I think that shows the spiritual growth I experienced this year. Recognizing Jesus’ birth as the greatest gift of all. The gift of SALVATION! Praise God!

New Years- Not only was this a celebration of a new year, but it also marked the one year anniversary of mine and Joe’s meeting. We met last year at a conference Crusade puts on, IndyCC. I had to work during the conference this year but i was able to make it for the New Year’s Eve celebration. “Get Your NE-ON” was the theme and it was a blast! The dance party was followed by praying in the New Year and an extended time of worship. (The picture below isn’t the best, but Joe and I are on the right. I found this picture on the IndyCC facebook page!)

2010 was probably the best year for me so far in my short 23 years. I experienced a lot of change; I fell in love, graduated from college, moved back home, was completely broke, got a job, and grew in my faith through many highs and lows. I can only imagine how FANTASTIC 2011 will be! I can’t wait to see what the Lord does this year!

Letter to my supporters

[I wanted to share this will all of you who follow my blog and have followed my journey with support raising. Thank you all, so much for your support and encouragement.]

Dear Supporters, Friends, and Family,

Thank you all so much for supporting me in my efforts to work full-time for Campus Crusade for Christ at Bowling Green State University. I received generous donations, powerful encouragement and countless prayers meeting with you all. It was a long, challenging summer raising support and I have learned so much in the process about our wonderful, beautiful Lord. I am thankful for so much and have a great deal to praise.

I am writing to inform you that I was unable to raise the amount of support I needed to be an intern with Crusade. It is a difficult realization, but I am seeking a new direction and residing in Columbus for now. Although the Lord has closed doors to do ministry in Bowling Green, I have been given opportunities to serve in my church and with Ohio State University’s Crusade as a volunteer. My situation is difficult for me to understand, but I am at peace with it and know that the Lord has a wonderful plan for me.

I will be utilizing the funds that I have already received to continue my ministry with the Ohio State University Crusade. Thank you to those who have promised to contribute on a monthly basis. However, I will not need monthly contributions for what I will be doing. Please discontinue your giving as those funds will no longer be available to me. If you have set up to give directly from your bank account or a credit card, you will need to log on to your donor account and cancel your giving or it will continue to take the monthly commitment as a contribution to the general work of Campus Crusade. You may access your account by logging onto http://www.give.ccci.org.

Thank you again for your support and encouragement this summer. I will continue to seek the Lord for direction on where He needs me. I ask that you remain open to supporting me in the future if I decide to pursue working full-time with this ministry again.

It’s not where… It’s love

I am sitting here finding it hard to focus and find the motivation to get work done. I am still pursuing my efforts of support raising for my internship with Campus Crusade for Christ. I have quite a bit left to raise and only 20 days left to do it. In this time I am also keeping in the back of my mind what I will do if I am unable to raise my support.

What I truly desire is to go back to BG and work full-time with Crusade. I have been struggling lately with the reality that I may not be able to raise my support… then what? I am not sure.

God has been doing what He does really well and has met me right where I am during this. I have been reminded that it isn’t about where I am or what ministry I am working for. He cares that I love Him and show others His love… wherever I am.

If I can ask, whoever reads my blog, to please keep me in your prayers for the next couple weeks as I work to raise the rest of the support I need. Ask the Lord would raise up generous people who want to give back to Him and help support my ministry. Also, I am seeking direction from the Lord if this is not His plan for me.

Thank you for your support and prayers! I will keep y’all posted.

Support Update

Hello friends and supporters! I wanted to give you all an update on my support. I am currently at 50% monthly support! I am so blessed to have people praying for me and providing for me financially. Such a blessing! With the last 50% left to raise, I am working hard and trusting that the Lord will provide it! I need the help of my family and friends to commit to praying for me as well as helping me reach my support goal by giving financial gifts. I have some supporters who are giving $300 per month and others giving $15 monthly. There are many ways to give. If monthly support is not possible a one-time gift is very much appreciated.

The support raising process has been a difficult one. It is hard asking for financial support from family and friends, but I am comforted when I remember it all belongs to the Lord. Everything we have is His! He has blessed us all in many ways! Giving financially is a way we can give back to God’s Kingdom and invest in Eternity! How exciting is that!!?

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! I trust the Lord will honor His word and truly bless those who give. If you are feeling lead to give, please click here to give online. Thank you and God Bless!

God is good… Canada is not!

The Lord has been really sweet to me, especially these past few weeks. He has really affirmed me that interning with Cru is what He has called me to do. He has not made clear for how long… but I am not going to worry about that now. He is using this support raising experience to teach me to fully trust Him. It has been very exciting so far.

Joe has been in Canada on Summer Project with Crusade for the last week and a half and he will be there another three… *sigh* I miss him. I got a letter from him today!!! Yay! I was so excited! I have been going out to the mail box every day since he told me he sent one (which was a whole week because Canada cannot get their act together and get me my mail faster!) Annnnnd we had a Skype date this afternoon! It was so wonderful! He told me all about what he has been doing and what the Lord has been doing… lots of awesome things! Oh and I met a couple of his friends/fellow interns! I miss him, but today was great seeing his face again… even if it was through the computer screen.

Update on my crazy, beautiful life…

Hello beautiful people! I thought I would write a quick update on what has been happening in my life these past few months. First off, I would like to say that I am really happy! The Lord has been working in my life and blessing me with so many things it is incredible.

I graduated a month ago from BGSU. Wow, does it feel great to be done and have a degree (a degree I can’t do anything with until I go to graduate school, but a degree, nonetheless!). The Lord has called me to do full-time Christian ministry this next year. God has done so much in my life that I can’t help but give at least one year to fully serve Him in full-time ministry. Cru has been so influential in my life that it makes sense to me to serve with this movement at BGSU. Right now I am raising support. Check out my blog I have made for my Cru internship at winbuildsend.wordpress.com. We will see where the Lord leads me from there… Another year of interning with Cru? Graduate school? Ministry overseas? More school to get my teaching license? Become a bum? Who knows… God does!! I am excited to see where He takes me!

Since I have graduated, I have been spending a lot of time with this man you have seen pictures of and heard a little bit about. Joe! Well, I should tell you that I am quite happy! We have been very active, going on adventures and trying to stay out of trouble. From climbing on various rooftops of buildings, to walking behind waterfalls, to swimming in rivers, to making up games while waiting on laundry to finish; we have had a wonderful time together. Well, for the next four weeks Joe will be in Canada on a Summer Project with Crusade as a staff intern. He will be mentoring other men and helping the staff with various things. I am very excited for him and know that he will do a wonderful job! While he is gone, we will be sending each other letters and keeping in touch that way. But I have a feeling the time will go by very quickly!

Anyways, our relationship couldn’t be more fun than it is right now! We have a solid foundation to our relationship which is Christ and continue to seek Him and serve Him both individually and together. I am excited to see where our relationship goes and how God plans to use us for His Kingdom. The Lord has blessed me with Joe in more ways than I know… Well I will stop gushing before you all puke your brains out. So there! You have officially met Joe! I am excited to share more of our adventures with you all!

Real Life Formal

Ohio State’s Real Life (Cru) Formal was a blasty blast!! JK Productions was unstoppable with our super sweet dance moves and curly hair. The dance was held in THE Horseshoe which was awesome. When Joe and I wanted to take a break from all the dancing, we went out into the stadium and sat in the stands to cool off. We had a great time! Here are some pictures from that memorable night!

What is next for me?

As you may have heard (or may not have), I will be interning with Campus Crusade for Christ this coming school year. Crusade is a ministry whose mission statement is to help build spiritual movements everywhere, so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus. After having recently graduated, I am excited and looking forward to returning to Bowling Green State University to work closely with students as they journey with the Lord.

At a Christian conference I attended this past winter, I heard about the opportunity to become an intern with Crusade. However, I had plans and already made steps to attend graduate school. During this time of uncertainty, the Lord used Proverbs 3:5-6 to build my faith in Him.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Although it wasn’t easy receiving rejections from graduate schools, I have learned to trust and allow the Lord to lead me down the right path. I took a huge step of faith and applied to Crusade not knowing what to expect. Sure enough, the Lord opened the door and I was accepted as an intern.

As I begin to raise support, I realize that it requires an open heart and another step of faith. Crusade has no central funds for paying salaries and ministry expenses. Like many other missions organizations, Crusade depends upon the consistent financial support of concerned individuals and churches. These contributions are used to fund the ministries of our staff members. I must find a team of partners who will give $100 monthly or some other amount to support my ministry. As soon as this team is complete, I can return to Bowling Green and begin my ministry!

If you could, would you please pray for me as I raise support this summer. It will be a challenging task, but the Lord will provide if this is truly what He wants for me this coming year. Thank you for your prayers and support!

In His Love <3
