God continues to teach me more and more about the woman I am becoming. I am so thankful for that. I continue to grow stronger as a person and closer in my relationship with Him. Wow… It’s overwhelming- the power of God. We can go through something awful and come out on the other side rejoicing in the majesty of our creator. Even through realllly difficult times. It literally takes my breath away just thinking about it.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing… Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. -James 1:2-4, 12
I have learned through a rather unfortunate circumstance that the greatest way to say “I love you” is through sacrifice. We all make sacrifices in life. Daily. Some big, some small. But when they are done for the glory of God, size is not important. Love becomes the focus.
The sacrifices I make in my life for God usually come to my attention when I am listening closely to Him. Whether it involves my time, my money, my relationships, etc. God points me in the direction of what I am to do with these things. I am so grateful to hear this from God. It makes me a better person… Thank you God!
Some sacrifices may hurt whether it be my wallet or my heart, but nothing goes unnoticed by God. God will bless those who give up things that are important to them. I am reminded by the scripture in Genesis 22 when Abraham is called by God to sacrifice his only son. If you are not familiar with this passage, Abraham takes his son to a mountain to sacrifice (kill) him, for God called him to do this. Abraham obeyed God and when he was about to kill his son God stopped him. God had seen that Abraham feared Him and gave him back his son.
15And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
Obey God’s voice and you too will be blessed. I pray that for everyone. If God wants to strip you from the things you are closest to, let Him. He will show you just how amazing He is.
