WHGBSTYL Sunday: God is love

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. -1 John 4:7-12

Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of time to write as much as I would like to right now… Today has been a busy day and I have to plan tonight for a camp my mom and I are putting on this week for first and second graders. However, I wanted to write a “WHGBSTYL Sunday” post because I feel God has shared something very important with me today. I attended church today- my home church- where I go when I am at school. I woke up early and drove two and a half hours north! Two very dear friends of mine are moving next week and I wanted to say goodbye to them before they left. Anyways, the pastor preached about “Living a Life of Love.” I was so intrigued! I felt like I was realizing all over again how incredible and amazing and CRAZY God’s love for me, for you, for the world really is!

I feel seriously challenged by the scripture that was shared during the sermon. “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” It almost seems impossible to love my neighbors, my brothers, my sisters, and my enemies as God loves them. But what an incredible thing to strive for! I want to be more like Christ everyday. The more I get to know Him and see Him moving in my life and in those around me, the more like Him I want to become… What has God been saying to YOU lately?
