Thanksgiving was really great this year. I got to spend some quality time with my family and catch up with some old high school friends. This break went by way too fast though. Tomorrow I will be back in the books and studying for finals. However, having multiple home cooked meals was so refreshing after having campus food for the past four months. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving wherever you spent it and found something to be thankful for.
Here are a few pictures of my cousins and brothers on Thanksgiving day. We all hit a food coma immediately after we ate. I could be done eating for the rest of the year.
Mmmm… Friends, food, games, fellowship, Thanksgiving episodes from Friends. Could this night have been any better? It hit me tonight how much I am going to miss this place and the people here. I was struggling, fighting back tears quietly while I was eating the lovely food all of us (over 20) had prepared. God has blessed these four years of my life with some of the most wonderful people. Thank you Lord!
Here is a clip from one of the Thanksgiving episodes we watched… I love this show!
Big10 Champions and Rose Bowl contenders! Ohio state just beat Iowa in overtime, 27-24 for the Big10 title the bowl pick to be in the rose bowl. Exciting night! Now it’s time to get excited about Michigan week! I always wish I was in Columbus this week… “O-H…”
Moved to tears… Thank you for serving. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made. Thank you for fighting for me. Thank you for loving our country. Thank you. Happy Veteran’s Day.
I am finding this semester to be very difficult but challenging, very stressful but full of excitement. This semester truly has flown by! Oh… by the way, four more weeks left of fall semester then I am on my way out of BGSU in May and into the real world. Crazy. Anyway, this semester has been really great. I have made some life long friends and created memories that will be with me forever. However, my anxiety has been through the roof recently. I can’t seem to stay caught up and feel pressed for time everyday. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to accomplish what I need to accomplish. I’m not even the over achieving type and I STILL feel overwhelmed with everything on my plate. On top of my job and academic work load, I have to study for the GRE and fill out applications to graduate schools! Ah!
Now that I have done all of my complaining, I have to tell you how sweet God has been though all of this. God has given me peace and has strengthened my trust in Him. He totally understands what I am going through and has moved closer to me. One thing in particular I have been worried about is the reality that I might not get accepted into a graduate program because my field is so competitive. God has truly given me peace about this. He knows the plan for my life. If I do not get accepted anywhere that doesn’t mean that I have failed in any way. It just means that God has something better for me. With that, He has reminded me through His word to not be anxious about the future. Today has enough trouble of its own. If I keep my eyes on Him and His kingdom, I will be blessed. God’s got this all under control and beautifully planned out. I simply have to trust.
Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?” For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. -Matthew 6:31-34
Because Halloween is only a few days away, I thought I would share with the world my favorite costume. My mom made me and my two younger brothers costumes every year. In the picture below, I was Cinderella (1994). I remember feeling soooo beautiful in that dress. My cousin, Matt, pictured with me was George Strait that year. That makes me laugh! In the bottom picture is my brother Kyle as the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz. Fun memories… What was your favorite costume?
Three weekends ago, I took an amazing trip up to Michigan to canoe with a group of students during our fall break. It was an awesome experience. I have never done something like this before and was fast to jump on this opportunity. The ten of us drove four hours to the Au Sable river and journeyed for three days, paddling a total of about 60 miles. We camped and cooked our own meals. I only knew one person before the trip but made some new friends by the end. We had fun tying our canoes together, standing up in the canoe, standing on the bows of the canoes (picture below), cracking jokes, and sharing life. I am looking forward to the next adventure… whatever that might be!
